{"id":3039,"date":"2018-03-22T14:35:35","date_gmt":"2018-03-22T14:35:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deeperricherfuller.wordpress.com\/?p=3039"},"modified":"2018-03-22T14:35:35","modified_gmt":"2018-03-22T14:35:35","slug":"a-favorite-prayer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deeperricherfuller.com\/?p=3039","title":{"rendered":"A Favorite Prayer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color:#333333;\">How you look at something often determines how it affects you. \u00a0For example: \u00a0you see a good friend at church, she seems to look right at you, you smile and wave and she turns away with an expression you can&#8217;t quite read. \u00a0If you think, &#8220;Oh, she must not have seen me.&#8221; \u00a0You will probably feel very little. \u00a0If you think, &#8220;Uh-oh, why is she mad at me?&#8221; \u00a0You might feel a bit anxious. \u00a0If you think, &#8220;Gosh, I wonder what&#8217;s up &#8211; that was odd?&#8221; \u00a0You might feel some concern for your friend. \u00a0How we interpret anything and everything we go through has a huge impact on how it affects us. \u00a0That\u2019s why having God\u2019s interpretation on things is so key to living in the fullness of life (John 10:10) that He wants for us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333333;\">This is why a frequent prayer of mine and one that increasingly grounds me is, &#8220;God, how would you have me think about this situation?&#8221; \u00a0Or sometimes it sounds like this, &#8220;Holy Spirit, align my thoughts with Your thoughts.&#8221; \u00a0I can&#8217;t begin to recount how many times this prayer has kept me from spiraling into fear or shame or doubt. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333333;\">When I began my private practice as a therapist God was very kind to me and showed me how to think about the financial side of things. \u00a0Through His word and my conversations with Him, He made it clear to me that He was my provider. \u00a0And that I was not to think of the people who came to see me and paid money for that time, as my providers. \u00a0I was to think of the two as quite separate. \u00a0This has meant, when my caseload would go down, I was protected from fear or anxiety about having enough money to pay my bills. \u00a0This was huge in those years when I was still single and had some hefty student load bills to pay off. \u00a0When I would have a last minute cancellation, I was able to enjoy the extra hour as a gift, instead of as a loss of income.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#333333;\">Any time you are going through something difficult and it has you emotionally tossing and turning, ask the Lord, who loves and cares for you, &#8220;How would you have me think about this situation?&#8221; \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><span style=\"color:#008080;\"><em>For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears.
